"Randonnez en Forez-Est" hiking guide
From the church in Chazelles-sur-Lyon, a short journey to put yourself in the shoes of a pilgrim. This route joins the official route to Santiago de Compostela (from Lyon) below the town.
Description
Start from Place de l'Eglise.
- Turn right into castle courtyard, then right into Rue des Chevaliers de Malte. Cross rue Armand Bazin into the public garden, then turn right on Boulevard Etienne Péronnet to the traffic circle. At the roundabout, head towards Saint-Galmier until you reach the traffic circle at the edge of town. Go straight ahead, then at the crossroads, turn left onto chemin de l'Ormanchère.
- At the tarmac, go downhill to the left, then cross the road by the grassy path straight ahead and pick up the road again. At the bottom of the descent, turn right onto chemin des Chaume.
- Once on Chemin des Chaumes, take the 2nd left onto Chemin de Pulchère. Keep right, then take the 1st grassy path on the left. Go downhill and turn right at the crossroads. Continue along the river Coise. Fork left to take the footbridge. Climb the track, which then becomes tarmac. At La Baronnière, go straight on to the church.
